Clotting of blood or thrombosis is one of the most critical disease present widespread in the world in recent times. This disease is generally associated with cardiovascular diseases but it also defined by the type of blood vessel affected (arterial or venous thrombosis) and the precise location of the blood vessel or the organ supplied by it. In terms of its treatment, modern medicinal system commonly uses anticoagulant or blood thinner named warfarin and sometimes aspirin tablets etc. But all of them come up with serious complications and adverse side-effects that include heavy periods in females, bloody or discolored urine or feces, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, prolonged bleeding from a cut, dizziness, muscle weakness, hair loss, rashes (1). So there is need of some natural and herbal techniques to manage thrombosis. Beside many herbs and foods available, below is the list of 5 topmost herbs/food items that can definitely tackle blood clotting without any complications.

Arjuna chaal (Terminalia arjuna bark): With 5 times more bio-flavonoids and antioxidants than tea and 10 times than turmeric, Arjuna bark is renowned for relieving heart diseases, High BP, High Cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol HDL and reducing bad cholesterol LDL. It increases the coronary artery blood flow so increase the oxygen concentration through out the every organs in the body and so inhibit blood clotting due to less oxygen. Also it inhibits platelet aggregation so help in avoiding unwanted blood clots in the body. It inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme that is responsible for unwanted blood clotting in the body so reduce the risk of thrombosis (blood clots) (2) . It can be taken twice a day.

How to consume

Boil 1 cup water and 1 cup milk along with half teaspoon of arjuna chaal powder. After 1 cup mixture remaining, strained it and add jaggery once it gets lukewarm.

Note: Don’t add jaggery while hot, it will leads to coagulation of milk.

2. Garlic (Allium sativum):- Besides many health benefits, Garlic comes with allicin whose metabolite ajoene inhibits thromboxane production that prevents the binding of fibrin (that makes blood clot) to platelet receptors and therefore inhibits the platelet activation and inhibits blood clots (3).

How to consume

Take 4-5 pieces of raw garlic in empty stomach twice a day.

Note :-Boiling and cooking of garlic destroy allicin in it so reduces it effect.

3. Drumstick or Sehjan leaves (Moringa oliefera) :- Sehjan is widely known superfood , rich in various micronutrients like carotene, vitamin C, vitamin B, calcium, iron, and essential amino acids etc. Besides these nutritional benefits, M. oleifera leaves are used for the treatment of a variety of common ailments e.g., anemia, anxiety, dry cough, bronchitis, joint pain, scurvy, and psoriasis and wide range of pharmacological properties such as anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antimicrobial, hypotensive, hypocholestrolemic, and hypoglycemic conditions. It inhibit formation of blood clots by inhibit platelet aggregation which is major step in formation of clots (4). It is easily available in evey villages and in cities dried powdered form can be prefered.

How to consume

It should be consumed in the raw form, for e.g chutney, mix with chapatis dough etc.

Note : Cooking reduces its efficiency So it should not consume in cooked form.
